Poetry by Richard D. Houff

Richard D Houff
whispers from aisle 3

each day she
paints a new
picture, forgets to
add colour because
being disagreeable
for always is
her very best
from the first
with years piling
on top of one
another where they
keep falling down
on fairy tales
from another time,
she said everybody
else is evil
because she’s always
right, so the rest
of us clowns
should bow down
to her including
the children who
left before it
was legal, now
we heard the
husband took an
oath of celibacy
sometime last week
to blank out
the years lost
in obsolete matrimony
