By Jenny Middleton

THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO
She is following the cool air
north of love, into the mountains.
She lies to herself; makes lies prayers.
She is following the cool air --
climbing higher, up through despair
believing she can conquer pain.
She is following the cool air
north of love, into the mountains.
