STOLEN SPRING
Many buds fall
from trees
before their petals
can unfold
and offer their fragrance
to the waiting world.
Hands meant to play,
soft as petals,
are made to carry
the weight of bricks
instead of holding
dreams of childhood.
Some are trapped
in the cruel shadows
of corrupted minds,
their innocence wounded
before it learns to trust.
And so the buds wither
before their season comes—
victims of a stolen spring,
while the world looks on,
and forgets
how to let them bloom.
