Still, I Dance Alone…

By Laila Brahmbhatt

BETWEEN SONGS

We speak through
what goes unspoken
like singers between songs.
We could move as dancers do,
through unrehearsed steps.
Let’s speak a language
of fluent silences, quiet breaths.
When I yearn to sing and dance with you,
I rewind our unheard conversations.
The tape holds only silence,
Yet still, I sing.
Still, I dance alone.
